Reproduction as a problem of ontology and the value of an aesthetic object
RIGANOVÁ, Šárka
This thesis looks into problems of sensory indistinguishable Copy in ontology and evaluation of an aesthetic object in the field of fine arts. For this purpose it presents and compares chosen theoretical approaches of - Nelson Goodman, Reinold Schmücker, Günther Patzig, Eddy Zemach and Denise Dutton - on ontology of a work of art, an original and a Copy. It further observes approaches and solutions in the field of evaluating works of art and their Copies by already mentioned Nelson Goodman and then Arthur Koestler, Mark Sagoff, Kendall L. Waltonn and Tomáš Kulka, with emphasis on the theory of aesthetic dualism by Tomáš Kulka. His theory of aesthetic dualism, together with distinguishing identity of a work of art and its tangible holder (artefact; above all G. Patzig, E. Zemach), is initial for the suggestion of a new approach through aesthetic triadism. Aesthetic triadism suggests the solution of a problem of evaluating works of art and Copies with three values: aesthetic and artistic value (related to the work of art) and the value of authenticity (related to the artefact). This approach is afterwards confronted with mentioned theories of evaluation and then used in relation to aesthetic object, its constitution and evaluation. Aesthetic triadism leads to satisfying solutions of main and partial questions that are asked in this thesis - it leads to a conclusion that evaluation of a work of art and a Copy can be in theory comparable by its aesthetic and artistic value and different evaluation can be restricted only on the value of authenticity. On the other hand, in specific reception of works of art or Copies the value of authenticity can influence constitution and evaluation of an aesthetic object so much that it leads to a different view of an aesthetic object both in its aesthetic and artistic value.

TITLE: Weapon as a work of art. With focus on problems of specific weapons identity and interpretation of weapon as feature AUTHOR: Tomáš Schartel DEPARTMENT: Institute for professional development, faculty of education SUPERVISOR: Mgr. Ondřej Sýkora ABSTRACT: The purpose of this bachelory diploma is to present a weapon as a mean of hunting or fighting, as well as the masterpiece, which says a lot about a person who created it. The creator gave to each weapon himself, didn't he? He had to be a good craftsman but he had to have art feeling too. Some people said the weapon had a magic power, according to others it wasn't difficult to recognize their owner. A long time ago the typical weapon was a sword which the kings and knights used to show their power. The sword as the most important weapon of medieval fighter, was very efficient and it was used for fighting at close range. The sword wasn't only the symbol of war but also the sign of prior role in society. But we can't only see the sword as a weapon. Sovereigners handed over the sword to each other as a symbol of reign leaving. The sword was a symbol of faith at the time of crusade when its shape was taken as a cross. The contribution of the bachelory diploma is acquisition of basic knowledges from the history of development and establishment the variety...

Pivoda, Radomír ; Wünschová Pujmanová, Alexandra (advisor) ; Žikovská, Petra (referee)
Radomír Pivoda Srovnání autorskoprávní ochrany autora a výkonného umělce A comparison of copyright protection of authors and performing artists The main goal of this thesis is to compare the key aspects of the copyright protection of authors and performing artists in the Czech Republic. The basic differences are explained with respect to its historical evolution, which is put into context with the current social situation in the field of art. The paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter gives an explanation of the basic terminology used in the area of copyright law and sets the frame for the comparison of authors and authorship and performing artists and their artistic performances. In the Czech Republic, authorship is based on the expression of a piece of art in any way perceivable by human senses. There is no registration principle in effect. This fact provides the starting point for the protection of authors' rights. Therefore it is important to precisely define what can be considered a piece of art and who can be recognised as an author or a performing artist. The second chapter deals with the legal treatment of authors according to the Czech Copyright Act and other legal regulations, including the recent case law and description of the most often infringements of the copyright...

Representation of the House in British Fiction (1906-2009). (E.M. Forster, John Galsworthy, Simon Mawer)
Hanzlová, Tereza ; Grmelová, Anna (advisor) ; Chalupský, Petr (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on diverse representations of the house in selected British novels since 1906. The novels have been chosen in reference to the importance assigned to houses in terms of plot, characters, and setting, each offering a unique vision of the house. A house is perceived as a home, as a possession or as a work of art. The novels by E.M. Forster, John Galsworthy and Simon Mawer are viewed through the prism of Phenomenology, namely the essays of Martin Heidegger, Jan Patočka and Anna Hogenová. This type of analysis provides an insight into the motivations of the individual characters, but also a deeper understanding of the function and role of the house in fiction as well as in reality. All the works are studied accordingly in the context of a wider social, cultural and aesthetic background. Key words: British fiction, Phenomenology, House, Home, Modernism, Work of Art

Sýkora, Matěj ; Holcová, Irena (advisor) ; Křesťanová, Veronika (referee)
Résumé: Limits of work of copyright in visual art This diploma thesis primarily deals with the concept of copyright work in the current Czech law and its relation towards works of contemporary visual art. The main aim of this thesis is to carry out a complex analysis of conceptual features of work of copyright under the Czech Copyright Act No. 121/2000 Coll. (including key and not always properly interpreted terms such as work of art, originality, or creativity) and then to apply these features to examples of the world's major works of visual art from the twentieth and twenty-first century. Author of this thesis tries to find out whether even specific works of visual art "meet legal requirements" imposed on works of copyright and thus may enjoy the copyright protection in the Czech legal system. It is the effort to identify boundaries between works of copyright and objects which are not under the protection of copyright law what is reflected in the title of this diploma thesis. Text of this thesis is divided into two main units. The first unit, which is the core of the thesis, is called "Limits of work of copyright", the second unit is called "Limits of appropriation". In the general part of the first unit the author tries to focus deeply on theoretical inquiry about the concept of work of copyright under...

Pácalt, Tomáš ; Bílek, Petr (advisor) ; Špirit, Michael (referee)
The bachelor thesis is based on the analysis of the role writers' images and particular fragments of English and American writers (Poe, Hawthorne, Twaine, Crane, Fitzgerald, Conrad, Lovecraft) have in the novel The Engineer of Human Souls by Josef Skvorecky. This relationship is to be interpreted according to the theory of intertextuality with a goal to analyse a value that these intertextual connections have in the Skvorecky novel. The thesis aims at some of the basic themes in The Engineer of Human Souls with a connection to the English and American writers. The thesis also references to the works of Premysl Blazicek. These references should discuss cognitive functions of a work of art.
